How water cremation works

The remains are wrapped in a biodegradable shroud and placed on a tray with small holes in it. The operator enters the weight and sex of the remains and the pressure vessel automatically enters the correct mixture of 5% potassium hydroxide and 95% water. The mixture is heated to 302F and a small pump gently circulates the effluent around the mixture to assist with the breakdown of the soft tissues. The process:

  • Is completed in 4-5 hours
  • Completely destroys pathogens and toxic chemicals
  • We return your loved one in an urn

The remaining sterile effluent contains no DNA and is sent to your local water treatment facility, where it is further treated and safely released back into our aquifers.
